Around Dahab

While shore diving is the norm in Dahab, some wonderful sites are only accessible by boat or camel.

Typically, these trips leave the jetty around 8am for a great day´s diving or snorkelling in the protected areas of Ras Abu Galum or Gabr-el-Bint. Groups can arrange private rental, for single or multiple days, and we can organise a custom-made diving package for your own unique Dahab experience.

We also run boat trips out of Sharm-el-Sheikh to the most famous sites in the area, such as SS Thistlegorm, Ras Mohammed and the stunning reefs in the Straits of Tiran.

See our ‘liveaboard’ section for information about trips from 3 to 14 days duration throughout the Egyptian Red Sea.

Straits of Tiran

This very popular day trip is just an hour out of Sharm and a must for any liveaboard itinerary.

The diving here is fantastic all year round but the classic time to visit is during the summer when the strong currents bring in top predators such as hammerheads and occasionally tiger sharks! Other sharks such as oceanic white tips and grey reef sharks are also common.

The nature of the dives at Tiran mean that often dive teams are split between professionals and the very experienced who venture ‘outside’ into the blue and the purely recreational divers who can enjoy the less demanding (but equally as good) sites on the ‘inside’ reef.

Day Boat Safaris

Ras Mohammed

Ras Mohammed has many sites which offer fantastic diving but the most popular is Shark to Yolanda reef.

The dive begins at the sheer reef wall, which drops off to 800 meters, watch your depth! You then swim either north or south around the reef depending on the prevailing current. There is actually a very good chance of seeing sharks here, especially in the summer months. Even if there are no sharks on your visit the life here is amazingly abundant with large schools of barracuda, jackfish, batfish and snapper.

Heading across the shallow lagoon there are common sitings of giant morays, turtles, massive napoleon wrasse and even the occasional whale shark or manta!

Yolanda reef is named after the vessel of the same name which sank here in 1985. While the ship itself has sunk into the depths, the ship´s cargo of toilets and bathtubs remain, which adds a surreal feel to this site.
