Bannerfish Bay – Dahab

Our beautiful House Reef. Bannerfish Bay is just a few meters from our door and the best place in Dahab to find sea horses, turtles, rays and a whole array of wonderful things, we just love it!

OUR HOUSE REEF

Also called “Dahab bay”, “Assalah bay” and “Sea Dancer reef” (but only by us of course).

Set between Lighthouse reef and Mashraba, Bannerfish Bay is not only the perfect place for training dives, but holds a plethora of marine life and is the perfect site for divers with a special interest in photography and marine biology. Also, for ‘macro’ life you won’t find a better site in Dahab.

Here, there are formations of coral, hills of sea grass and patches of sand, basically, every type of marine environment possible. The corals are covered in fish and the sea grass is home to sea horses, pipe fish and many small rarities, while, in the sand, you often find flatfish, sea-moths, Red Sea Walkman, stone-fish and scorpion fish.

Over the year’s persons unknown have added car tires and clay pots, this may appear irresponsible but they seem so to make a great home for small fish, eels, anemones and octopus.

We also have ‘buoyancy park’ installed just to the north where we perfect skills on the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course.

Add regular visits by large rays and the occasional dolphin and you can see why “our” dive site is our favourite and many people’s favourite place to dive.

Oh yes, there are also lots of bannerfish!

BUYONACY PARK AREA

Improving your buoyancy control skills is highly recommended. And nothing better to practice in the control environment than going through the hoops of Dahab’s buoyancy park.
